How we use AI
What we use AI for, what we never use it for, and the rules we hold ourselves to.
We build with AI tools, and we would rather say so plainly than let you find out.
What we do not do with your information
We do not use anything you send us to train AI models, and we do not put it into tools that would. If you send us a question, a pitch, a partnership enquiry, or an email, that text stays in our own systems and with the providers listed on our subprocessors page. Nothing you write is used as training data by us or by anyone on our behalf.
We do not use AI to make decisions about you, to profile you, or to score you. We do not use it to moderate you automatically. If any of that ever changes, we will update this page and our privacy policy before we do it, name the service, say what it does, and say whether your content could be used to train that provider's models.
What we do use AI for
Making things. Drafting and editing our own writing, generating concept art and illustration, producing narration and audio, writing and reviewing the code that runs our sites, and research. This is our own work, not yours.
Our standing rules for our own use:
- Business or commercial accounts only. Consumer tiers of most AI tools train on what you put into them by default. We do not use them for company work.
- No training on our inputs. We use tiers where the provider does not train on what we submit, and we check this when we adopt a tool and when its terms change.
- Nothing sends by itself. No AI tool of ours posts, publishes, emails, or transmits anything. Every send is reviewed by a person first.
- No AI in live sessions. No notetakers, transcription bots, or meeting assistants on our calls. Recording is explicit, disclosed, and off by default.
- Human authorship where it counts. Art that we sell, or that carries the identity of a property, is made or remade by a human. AI-generated imagery stays at the concept stage.
- We disclose AI use in our published work where a reader would reasonably want to know.
Changes
We update this page when our posture changes, not on a schedule.
